LS6 valve length question
LS6 valve length question After some long searching, I did locate some 'ls6 hollow/sodium valves' new in box off ebay to replace two bent valves I had after breaking a piston.
A while back I noticed that the valves, after installed in the head (I only replaced and installed two valves) were noticeably shorter from the tip of the valve to the retainer.
I removed the valves and discovered they are slightly shorter then my stock valves I pulled out of the same head.
I know ls6 valves were slightly longer then ls1 valves.
I also know that these new valves I bought weigh the same as my old ls6 valves.
Why the difference in length?
Can I get away with valve lash caps to suck up that .025" or should I go with different length pushrods just for two valves?
Or lastly, should I just shop around for more ls6 valves?

I personally wouldn't want different weight and height valves on my heads so I would try to source either all ls6 valves or ls1s. I have had the valves next to eachother and can assure you the ls6 valves are longer than the ls1s not shorter by about .025. So if yours are shorter they may not be true ls6 valves. Normally the length be absorbed by the lifters in preload but if you were really **** you could order some shorter pushrods to compensate as the stock ones are really 7.38.
Also the ls6 valves were longer due to the smaller base circle of the ls6 can so it could compensate without longer pushrods

Have you gotten them on a scale? It's very hard to feel a difference between the two by hand it's a matter of 15 grams or so. If the valves are different lengths the shorter ones most likely are not ls6 valves. All ls6 valves share the same part number and are the same length
