Default Difference Between Blue and Brown/Black Valve Seals?

I recently purchased some PRC stage 1.0 LS6 heads. I really like the spring kits from Brian Tooley Racing (BTR), so I decided to order the heads with no springs installed. The heads came from Texas Speed with blue valve seals that are very similar looking to the ones that BTR sells. (http://www.briantooleyracing.com/ls-...-kit-blue.html) However, BTR also sells Brown/Black valve seals which were actually included in my spring kit (http://www.briantooleyracing.com/ls-valve-seal-kit.html). I don't have the BTR blue seals on hand for comparison, but the only difference I can find in the blue seals that are installed on my heads and the brown/black seals included in my spring kit are that the blue seals are about .080" taller. Here's the comparison:

I would think that the blue seals that are currently installed wouldn't give me any issues, but I want to make sure. I'd prefer to save the brown/black ones from the BTR kit for future use if I can. Plus if I end up replacing them I'm just asking for Murphy to show up with the way my build has been going lately. Here's a pic with the springs installed:

What do you guys think? Any issues with running the blue seals that are installed? I know BTR says you can't use the hat style seals, but their site didn't say anything about these.

You need to check at full lift whether the seal will hit or bind on anything. The reason for the shorter seal has to do with coil spring bind and max lift.

Yeah I thought about that too. Spring installed height is 1.780" and coil bind is at 1.070." Considering how it looks I don't see what it could hit even if the spring is compressed the full .710" to coil bind. Like I said, I still could be missing something though.

The manufacturer claims the only difference is color. However, sometimes there's a difference in durometer between them.

Either way the seals will work, no problem. The taller canister will just sit closer to the locators, the distance from the top of the seal to the bottom of the retainer is still the same, which is approximately .800" IIRC.

I got 8 blue and 8 red when I got my cam from Cammotion. Kip said the blues go on the intakes and the reds on the exhaust. While they do look identical, the part numbers are different...

I'll stick with the blue seals for now then and hold on the brown/black seals for potential future replacement. Glad I can save myself some time and work Thanks for clearing that up!

I'm surprised there are so many variations in the color of these seals. I'm sure those red seals are better able to hold up to the extra heat.
