6.0 low oil psi

6.0 low oil psi I have a 04 chevy 2500 6.0 161k have manually verified low oil psi. 20@ 2500rpm and 5@idle. removed pan and front cover replaced oil pump and strainer o-ring, flushed strainer. Noticed small amount of metal in the pan(bearing material) engine never had any noise. Reassemblied only to have same problem. Thinking I should have done rod and mains while apart. I know the newer design lifters in these engines can also cause similar problems. Anyone have any input. BTW this is 1 of 40 I maintain not my own.

EB you hit the nail on the head. After i pulled pan back off yesterday, started pullling bearing caps and everything was looking good, looked up and cam bearing caught my eye. #3 spun forward about 1/4 in. That sucks.
