Camaro LS1 works as replacement in corvette? I'm curious about building a motor on the side and putting it into my Corvette. I'm looking at a nearby Camaro longblock for $2500.

$2500 is steep for a 98 longblock IMO
Where are you located? You can probably get a better deal on a rebuilt engine from Thompson Motorsports or Texas Speed and have a warranty
But otherwise yes, oil pan and exhaust manifolds should be the primary differences.

I know someone who bought a complete running driving LS1 f body for $2500. Here are 2 better options with warranties.

You're right, having the warranty makes it a better deal. It wouldn't be ready to drop in like a complete long block, but the peace of mind that I'm getting a fresh build would be nice.
Does anyone know of a more local option within say 300 miles or so from Dayton Ohio?
