Default Building 6.0

I have a motor that I am taking out of my buggy this winter. It is a stock 6.0 with the cast heads. My question if I was to buy a good set of heads switch the motor over to a solid lift cam and maybe some new pistons what would be the horsepower gain or is it even worth it. I am going to put this motor in a old car and probably won't drive it much but since I had the motor out was wondering if it was worth it.

A good head cam intake setup will get around another 100 hp. I went the budget route on my 6.0 and it still makes good power

I dunno for just 100 hp that's a pretty penny on top of what I'm getting ready to drop into a 408 this winter to. I may just keep my eye out for a used procharger and slap it on there.

Staying NA and trying to get as much power as possible is going to be expensive. If cheap power is what you're after, it's hard to argue with a nozzle or plate nitrous setup. HP per dollar, that's going to be your best bet.

Yes I know making power staying na is expensive as I am building a solid lift 408 this winter. I am just buying parts and putting them back as I come across them. I was wondering if it was putting a bigger cam and after market heads but I think I am going to stick with what I have and put the money toward the 408

You could just do a cam upgrade and leave the stock heads (obviously upgrade springs).

before I put the motor in the buggy I put all new springs and tsp cam in it. Not a very big cam I think it was a 224/228 581/588. I stayed relatively small seeing as how this was the first ls powered buggy I have had and didn't know how a bigger cam would act especially having to run a small stall in the woods to keep the heat off the tranmission

If I had it to do all over again when I don't that motor instead of spending the money cutting the heads and porting them I would have just stuck somewhere around a 630ish cam in it with some springs lifters and rods and beat the ever living crap out of it.
