Default power to expect with low comp engine

lq4 with a on the larger side cam, nicely ported heads,ls6 intake, headers exhaust, but with prob 8.1 compression. its gonna see a 300 shot but id like to know what kind of performance to expect all motor with that low of compression.. the reason its so low is I gotta steal on some -25cc pistons and couldn't pass them also plan to go turbo in the near future thanks

It will run like dog **** down low. You may make some nice power up top from the ported heads and big duration, but anything below WOT will feel like ***.

If you must run those pistons, you can always gain compression back from the chamber size and gasket thickness. I don't think you have to run that little comp even with a healthy shot or boost unless you plan on running 87 octane.

It will be soggy down low with a big cam at 8:1. My 9:1 procharged motor hated big cam life getting off the line. I went with a custom small cam with almost the same specs as a hotcam with aggresive ramp and lift and it became a stump puller. I don't know what you would lose on a smaller cam with spray but on boost, my motor lost nothing up top.

With that much dish and the fact that those pistons have valve reliefs built in you will be fine even after a healthy mill. I wouldn't take much off the heads just for the fact that you will be running heavy pressures from nitrous or boost so you want as thick of a deck as possible.

Maybe get some 243 heads instead, or if you send your heads to AI for the porting they can weld the chamber up for increased compression without sacrificing deck thickness or PTV.

with 243 heads would ptv clearance be an issue, also that would only bump it up to like 8.6.. how far could i mill those heads?/ thanks for the info btw

No you won't have issues for reasons I stated above. Don't mill em too much, so your best bet is to get the 317s welded up.

Sell the pistons, a couple hundred dollars isn't worth how poor that motor will perform. That compression is track only car making 25+ psi of boost. Not a N/A - NO2 build.

This x1038271. No reason to try to work around -25cc pistons on a all motor or nitrous motor. If they were so cheap just resell them or hold onto them for maybe a future boosted setup. The car will be a slug

No problem, definitely would hate to see anyone button up a build just to be disappointed
