Default Guys who have set up valvetrains with ls7 lifters

Going be doing my heads cam build soon and just curious what most people set there preload at. I have heard mixed opinions and id rather hear from people who have done it and have had success. Your input is appreciated.

.080" on an iron block and aluminum heads. Quiet as a mouse.

.080 is stock preload. I like to preload aftermarket cams quite a bit less. .030 - .040 ish

I originally had mine at .085" preload, and found it very noisy. After about 2,000 miles I went with shorter PRs, and the lifters have been noticeably quieter with .060" pre-load for the last 15,000 miles.

Whatever a full turn is from zero lash to 22ftlbs... That's what I went with. You'll get conflicting information on what that preload actually is, and I care not to get into it myself. I still believe it's around .047

Valvetrain wasn't silent as you could definitely hear the valves opening and closing. Worked great for me.

This ^^^^^^ .030-.047 is ideal in my old school somewhat limited but researched understanding. lol I have realized benefit in switching to a solid roller, set cold lash and you never have to worry about preload or collapsed lifter again. ;-) My sold roller is actually way more quiet than any hydraulic ls lifter.

When I had them, I ran them @ .095" preload in an LS1 with no issues.
