Rear main seal install victor reinz
Only thing left on my 408 is to install my rear main plate and it's ready to drop in. I've searched and searched but I just wanted to ask for clarity. The seal I have is a victor reinz it's all ready in the plate and it has the white plastic piece in the middle. At this point all I need to do is clean the crank apply NO oil to anything and simply bolt the cover on with some silicone at the corners? Or is there a trick to the plastic piece or is it just there to protect the seal. I also have the seal in the plate correctly it says this side out. Anybody have anything I should know before I put it together? Thanks

Here's my install, it was a National but also came with the plastic plate. First pic is the seal on my generic install tool, a 4" x 3" sewer reducer. Second pic is the stock (greenish) seal before pulling and last is the new seal in place. IIRC, the instructions said NOT to use any lube so I didn't and it's still holding just fine...
