This will help.

Also, I'd stay away from Hawks. WS6Store offers better pricing.

But in all honesty, I ended up buying all the components of my valvetrain from about 8 different vendors. Why? Well, that's the only way I got exactly what I wanted.
What valve springs are you using?

Your best bet to really get the best parts to meet your needs you be to contact Marten @Tick Performance, Brian Tooley Racing, Geoff Skinner at EPS, Kip @CamMotion, or Ed Curtis at FlowTech Induction, tell them about you build and the goals you have and buy what they tell you to. It may end up costing you more but you'll have a reliable combination that makes more power.

Yeah seems as though that's what I'm going to have to do, I don't mind paying too much more for a sturdy top-end. Very helpful write up btw thanks!

Here's my future shopping list: (with 224R w/ 112LSA cam, stock length pushrods, LS6 lifters, dual valvesprings) and Comp Cams ultra gold rocker arms(1.8) ratio
Like others have said, the XE-R lobes don't RPM well so use something much easier to control like the LXL or HUC lobes. Roller rockers are hard to control so use stock rockers there.

We have a customer who used a 5.3 with home ported heads, F1X supercharger and Holley Hi Ram that made 1400 hp at 7500 rpm. He had our custom cam, .660" lift Platinum springs shimmed to 1.750", 7.400" pushrods with stock rockers and stock lifters.

That same package can be purchased here for $719 shipped: http://www.briantooleyracing.com/btr...-pushrods.html

Like I said I'd just call or email some of the best valvetrain experts around and buy what they suggest. Brian is one of the people at the top of that list, let hit pick out a cam and all of the needed parts and your motor will make more power and be more reliable than a motor with a dated XE or XER single pattern cam.
