Default 06 5.3 HP and TQ options

I have an 06 silverado with a 5.3. I currently have invested in a CAI, throttle body spacer, headers, full exhaust, and a programmer. Right now as it sits the truck has a ton more pep. But, thats never good enough . I have a stock LS2 cam sitting in my shop that i would love to slap in the 5.3. Anyone done this before? Any gains or losses for doing this? Also any other slight mods yall have done please do share

This article will tell you what an LS2 can make in a 5.3. I am unsure of the difference between the original LM7 cam and whatever came in the 06 but I doubt it changed that much. You'll lose some low end but gain quite a bit on the top end. I'd be thinking about a converter if you went with much more cam and at that point, probably worth your while to just go with aftermarket cam. Hopefully some of the other guys here can comment on exactly what the 06 came with and if the factory converter would work well with the LS2 cam.

You should take that throttle body spacer and place it directly in the trash.

Because it isn't doing a damn thing.

Throttle body spacers are from the carb days and their entire purpose was to allow for a longer run to allow the air and fuel to mix more effectively. People continued to use them with the throttle body injection set-ups, as well. The gains were questionable back then, but at least there was a theory behind it. On a motor where the fuel injectors are shooting fuel right at the intake port of the cylinder head, spacing the throttle body only successfully creates a longer neck on the intake manifold for air to travel through.

I understand you already have the ls2 cam but a cam designed to do what you want to do might be worth the cost in the long run if you care about performance down low.
