Find some 243s or 799s Have them sent to a Good shop for porting and Valve job
All new gaskets
A nice cam kit with all accessories Springs locks retainers etc
Push rods
New lifters
New oil pump
ls6 timing chain

Fast 90 or 102 intake and throttle body

Are you doing the work your self or having a shop install everything ?
I'm doing the work. I won't go into the tranny but for heads, cam, intake I'll be doing the work.

For 5k just for the HCI you can get some very nice heads along with cam and intake and miscellaneous. Check out places like AI, Trick Flow, Mast, etc...

Yep my buddy got some high end Mast heads, custom Ed Curtis cam, ported Fast 92, and all accessories for right around 5k. Made 500 rwhp on a stock cubed LS2

OP....Shoot me a PM and we can discuss the goals of your build.

I can design a combination around stock AFR heads or modified AFR heads (aka Mamofied) with stock solid stem valves or aftermarket hollow valves which I recommend if you plan to make big power which always requires a decent amount of RPM with stock cubes (stroker motors dont require as much RPM because they inherently make more torque).

Sounds like you have some budget to work with.....if so a properly ported FAST is a no brainer....if you have really good heads it can be worth 25-30 RWHP.....thats just too large a chunk to leave under the table if your trying to punch a number.

Cruise thru the gallery on my new website to see the workmanship and the quality of the Mamofied heads if your considering that....there should be some pics of a few FAST intakes I ported in there as well

www.mamomotorsports.com

I can help you get where your looking to be and do so in a reliable and very drivable combination....and that's the real difference....a combination that can lay waste to most but yet still be civil enough to drive your GF or wife to the movies....still have the manners of a "normal" car. Responsive....no surging or protesting at low RPM's, and none of the typical pitfalls of larger less efficient combinations

Nice man id say from everything ive read on here it would take a little more than that to make 500rwhp on a stock cubed ls1.

His options are great for that kind of budget though if he does spend all 5k im guessing he should make around 450+. What do you think? Does that sound about right?

Yeah I'd say 450 is very doable...depending on the dyno of course lol.

Lol damn them dynos. He should have a nice 11s sec car for sure, hopefully he finishes building the car the right way or he will be going through the same **** as me.

OP let us know what you decide and take pics of the build. Also make a new thread for the build.

I'll start a thread. First thing is the tranny and rear end, then engine. I don't have a time line but I'm working to get this done. Tony I'm sending a pm.

5k should get him more then 450whp done right. Of course I was just talking about cost of the H/C/I/TB alone. Sure there are other things that will add to the cost....Oil Pump, T. chain, lifters, P. Rods, trunion upgrade, bolts, gaskets, fluids...etc.

So yea If you are talking about 5k for everything needed to hit 450whp reliably I think you are about right on.

What surprised me was the cost of ARP head studs. Didn't think they would be that much lol

Oh yea ARP stuff is pricey. I am currently purchasing all my parts for a H/C/I install over the winter. Have everything but head gaskets, bolts, and lifters. Still deciding on these parts.

Save your money....if you didn't have the block honed with torque plates and ARP head studs you do more harm than good. It distorts the block/cylinder walls differently than a bolt and is overkill for any N/A build....even the Vader build I did which comfortably cleared 700 at the crank was handled with ARP bolts. I did of course torque plate hone the block with the same hardware but bottom line guys.....get the bolts at less than half the money. Reusable and super strong as well....the studs are overpriced and unnecessary

OP.....will PM you back shortly

You can hit, and exceed 450, for less than 5k. I've done it.

Tony helped me a bit, as this was with a set of AFR 205's. The newer ones (210, 215) are even better though...

450 with an auto and any kind of strong rearend is hardly easy at any price. We're all talking SAE whp, right? Hell, I've been gone a year. Did we switch to something that I don't know about? You guys know not to drink methanol, right?
