That must be it, it happens around 118mph I would say. That makes sense, damn, I wish I didn't have that stupid limiter!!! Why does the car dyno higher HP wise in 4th then in third though? Oh well, atleast I know what the deal is now with my car and it is normal. Thanks.

4th gear is a 1:1 ratio and is therefor the most efficient ratio. The further away you get from 1:1, the more the efficiency goes down. Low ratios like 1st and 2nd also dont let the 2500lb dyno rollers load the engine down very much to get an accurate reading.

As for a cam size in daily drivers...I run a 228/228 112+4 XE-R and it runs pretty good. Occasionally stalls with the A/C on under certain conditions. I dont know how guys with a 231/237 say their cars run perfectly...dont see how its possible. And trust me, I've done lots of tuning. I have had several cams and have buddies that have had others and am really happy with my latest choice. Great power in the midrange, just fine down low, and pulls good all the way to 6600 rpm. If I wanted a little more up top, I could retard the cam 4* and probably pick up another 10ish peak hp, and be able to make power to 6700 rpm.

the key to these bigger cammed ls1s are a good tuner that takes his time and gets it right......my thanks always goes to kevin "NoGo" he is the best hands down......
Do a search on his name and you will see why ppl from all over make the trip to have him tune their car at East Side

I agree with Chef about the tuning. Slowhawk (Don) isn't to shabby of a tuner either, Fred
