Default FI or heads and cam LS1?

I have a 98 C5 6 speed with 60k miles on the clock. I'm looking to add some more power to the car am I'm kinda torn on which way to go. I would like to have 450-500RWHP all said and done and be able to run 10s in the 1/4. I would like to keep the cost of upgrades under 10k. If I go the super charger route I would use the A&A kit but I kinda worry about throwing FI on a 60k motor. It's not a DD Just a weekend toy that I want to use to go mustang hunting in. Which way would you go and why? Most of the guys on the corvette forum are telling me to go FI and don't look back just would like some more opinions before I start ordering parts. Thanks

450 rwhp can be can done with either choice, but once you start getting around 500 rwhp or more you will need a pretty radical HCI to reach, so at that point forced induction might be a better option IMO

Go with the A&A kit. These engines are just getting broken in at 60k miles!

If I go A&A I'm going to upgrade the valve springs lifters and possibly do a rocker arm upgrade for insurance. What would you guys recommend part numbers would be awesome too.

Stroking that LS1 to a 383 would be killer especially if you get Mamo to do your topend. His personal C5 383 LS put down 540rwhp.

Id go with some good quality valve springs like Brian Tooley's and the comp trunions for the rockers.

Im a big NA fan but admit the easiest and probably funnest overall to drive is an FI car. Next choice would be stroking, id never do a stock displacement H/C again.

Mamos C5 383 was one hard running car

A&A kit, Dual valve springs, fuel pump (x2), injectors, full exhaust and meth injection... 500hp with plenty left in the tank.

A&A kit it is then thanks a lot guys. The a&a setup comes with the fuel system so that's covered. Now explain to me meth injection I've seen lots of guys running this but not familer with what it is or how it works?

Random question this has nothing to do with the subject but was just going to ask to prevent starting another thread. I've never owned a LS1 before and on cold startup the motor seems to knock a little and once warm it's quiet as a mouse and runs smooth as silk what gives? This normal for the ls1 I've done some reading on piston slap etc and it seems every ls1 owner out there has a noisy engine when cold. Just wanted to know before I strap a blower on it running 10psi.

Meth in injection will add a fuel source for detonation control and when mixed with water it cools the air charge and will cool the crown of the piston. Water being water also is a detonation control as well. The kits run on pressure / vacuum switch so it only comes on after 3-4 psi, so it's not something you have to fill all the time. It is a little bit of insurance and safety for your motor. You can also lean on the car more with it as well but in your case I would tune the car with the meth off, then turn the kit on. Make another pull or 2 to make sure the car doesn't run too rich and you should see the A/F ratio drop .5 - 1 point on the wide band. That's how I tuned my car with a 50/50 mix meth/water.

Give this a read too... https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...lity-list.html

Your random ? sounds like piston slap to me.

+1. Go supercharged. I wouldn't go turbo but definitely SC if I had to do it again. I have the same hesitations about boosting a stock bottom end. Just make sure you get methanol injection, a good tune, and don't go crazy with the boost. 6psi should get you around 500-550rwhp with plenty of room to grow. Everyone wants more after doing H/C/I but can't without changing directions. With FI, you can forge the bottom end and turn the boost up!

Here are the plans.

-A&A si trim maybe t trim
-Alky meth injection 100% meth
-Lg super pro long tubes 1 7/8 3" x pipe no cats
-Xs power 3" exhaust
-Valve springs not sure on brand maybe pac 1218s?
-Comp turnin rocker arm upgrade
- Boost gauge and fuel psi gauge
-Anywhere between 500-600WHP would be sweet
-Already have a clutchmasters 6 puck clutch in the car
-Futral motor sports out of walker LA will be doing the tuning

Anything im missing?

Im going to leave everything else alone. Ive heard that you need to put lock tite on the cam bolts replace the timing chain and oil pump but im not doing things like that without doing a cam swap and a cam kit is just not going to be in the budget after all of this lol. Worse case i blow up a Stock ls1, i go to craigslist, junk yard etc pick another one up for $1000 or so and back in business how does my plan sound to you fellas?
