Random question this has nothing to do with the subject but was just going to ask to prevent starting another thread. I've never owned a LS1 before and on cold startup the motor seems to knock a little and once warm it's quiet as a mouse and runs smooth as silk what gives? This normal for the ls1 I've done some reading on piston slap etc and it seems every ls1 owner out there has a noisy engine when cold. Just wanted to know before I strap a blower on it running 10psi.

Im going to leave everything else alone. Ive heard that you need to put lock tite on the cam bolts replace the timing chain and oil pump but im not doing things like that without doing a cam swap and a cam kit is just not going to be in the budget after all of this lol. Worse case i blow up a Stock ls1, i go to craigslist, junk yard etc pick another one up for $1000 or so and back in business
