FAST or Cam first?
FAST or Cam first? I currently have the bolt ons below with stock 241 heads and LS1 intake:
AMR 1 3/4 LTs
O/R Y-pipe
SLP LMII catback
K&N FIPK Intake
LS7 clutch with B&M shifter
BMR Springs, Bilsteins, UMI Panhard, STB, SFC, LCA, LCA Brackets, T/A, T/A Relocation
Rebuilt 10-bolt with 4.10's (until it blows)
Going to be adding the following H/C/I combo over the next 2 years or so:
Vengeance VRX5 236/238 .601/.605
FAST 92/92
TFS 215's or PRC 2.5 LS6 ($$ permitting
)
Is it recommended to go with the cam or the FAST intake/TB first, followed by the other? Want to make sure I'm maximizing as I build. I would say cam first for sure if I had an LS6 intake, but I know how restrictive the LS1 can be. Thanks for the input!

Yep, cam first for sure. Lots of guy run a cam with stock heads and a FAST intake. The whole point of an aftermarket intake is to help the engine consume and expel more air, which it's going to need to do with an aftermarket cam. GM designed the LS6 intake to be plenty for the stock cam, so putting an aftermarket intake on it with the stock cam isn't going to gain you much. Will it gain some, sure, but not near as much as a cam would with stock intake. Is the cost of doing a cam upgrade more expensive than doing an intake sway, yes, but I wouldn't see the point of upgrading the intake now if your future plans didn't include a cam swap.

How is it that much cheaper?
How is it cheaper?
For example, if it takes 8 hours to do a cam and 4 hours to do heads, doing them together will only take 10 hours.
I see Vengeance offers a head and cam package, which I may just wait for and do it all at once. Looking at doing the TFS 220s with the VRX5 for about 3k with all supporting components. Stick with the stock LS1 intake for now, and look forward to the added 25-30 hp with the FAST 92/92 down the road. Done with the suspension and drivetrain mods shortly, and looking forward to adding some power.
