Default LQ9 - Cam Suggestions??

I'm planning to spend my tax refund money responsibly and get a cam package for my LQ9 and would like some suggestions to see what others are currently running.

My Set up:

2001 Camaro Z28
Stock LQ9
Stock 317 heads
Stock 4L60E
Stock 10-bolt
Full exhaust
SLP intake
Tuned

Goals:

400-450 HP at the wheels
Keep Stock heads
Prefer great low-mid end power and mild top end
Prefer something throaty as well
MPG is not an issue
Stay NA

I will upgrade the trans with matching stall as well as the rear end later on after the cam swap as I don't plan on beating on the car too much. Might also get the heads PnP'd if that will help some. I'm more interested in current off the shelf cams that would fit my needs before I start calling shops for a custom grind.

Any advice is appreciated!

Our LS stage 2 camshaft sounds like a winner for your goals.
232 232 .595" .595" 114LSA
we have the other parts you will require for a clean install as well.
spring lock retainer seal i.d. locator package
pushrods
lifters
timing set
bolts
oil pump

Keep in mind with needing a spring kit anyhow you are only a small amount of $ away from a set of ported heads. It would be a shame to do all of the work and not get as much bang for the buck as you can.

When you see BTR this and BTR that all over this forum, that's referring to him.
He has some good off the shelf cams that work well, but he'll have a cam ground for you if you want.

Also,Livernois has great kits to knock it all out in one shot.

I'm running a cam almost identical the MS3 in my LQ9 (but has more advance in it) and was worried it was going to be too big, but it's quite the opposite actually

would you have a sound clip? Also, what supporting engine mods did you have to do for that cam?

porting the heads and getting a intake will help out.400-450whp with just stock lq9 is gonna take a good size cam meaning low end loss.heads and intake will make same or more power with a friendly cam shaft.didnt see anything about a stall, thats def gonna be needed

I haven't decided on a stall yet but it's definitely on the list, I am deciding on the cam and will match the stall accordingly - just trying to get ideas for the cam choice for now.

I did mention I'd get the 317 heads ported/polished if need be if that will give me some additional numbers on the overall set up. I'm still in the research phase though.

thx

We have two cams that will deliver great midrange torque and horsepower:

Our Stage 3 LS2 cam will have great power and a noticeable idle:
http://store.cammotion.com/60-ls2-34...-compression-3

And, our Titan V camshaft will deliver slightly more power and have more of a hotrod lope at idle:
http://store.cammotion.com/the-titan5

When you decide to upgrade your gears and torque converter, these cams will love a 3.73-4.10 gear and a torque converter between 3000-4000 RPM depending on your preference and driving style.

When you are ready to step up, give us a call and we will help you get all of the right parts to complete the swap.
