400 whp stock ls1 short block
I know it's probably been beat to death, but I'm going for 400 rwhp in my 98 Formula. Car has 1 7/8 hookers, Y with a cutout/Magnaflow, 4000 stall, 3.73 10 bolt, PP 85MM intake and ported tb currently. Plan on a bigger tb. Have a Ms3 cam, 799 truck heads to go on it.
I'm debating on doing a stage 1 port, though a clean up mill/ valve job is definitely going to happen. Plan on keeping stock valves, with dual springs and Gm mls gaskets.
Could I hit my power goals with out a port? Semi budget build. Just to last a summer before I boost a 6.0. Thanks. Here is my car.

Need an ls6 intake and you shouldn't have a problem.A4 will show less on the dump . But with those mods mid 11's are there.I would say do the headwork and tune and u may not want a 6.0. You have a big stall and cam if you can get the air in you will be happy

Should be doable, my stock ls1 with a tune headers and exhaust trapped 109 @ 4000 feet of elevation and 3500lbs. On the dyno it made 330whp with nothing done to the engine at all. I'm sure with a decent set of heads and the right camshaft it could be done.

My intake is comparable to a ls6, and I believe my cam will get me there. Thanks for the input. It reaffirmed my thoughts on the setup. Even if I'm a a little short , I'll be happy

my woman's last setup was very similar ... stock 98 ls1 bottom end:
ms4 cam/ dual springs
ls6 intake
factory heads
kooks 2" primaries through 3" ory and magnaflow
circle d 3400 convertor and a built 4l60
did 402 rwhp with tq around 380 I believe
