Bad oil pressure sending unit?help
Bad oil pressure sending unit?help I'm guessing it's a bad oil pressure sensor (hoping actually). Cold start up it sits around 65ish psi. Then driving around it goes down to 40ish after warm 180degree temp. Then at idle goes around 20ish psi... then when I rev the engine the needle jumps to 65ish. . New meiling pump, rebuilt 5.3 on a 98 camaro. Here's a video. .

That's prob the fastest reacting OEM sending unit I have come across lol.
My 95 cluster gauge will have a delay in it. But my SpeedHut gauge reacts fast.
That doesn't look terrible. If anything the gauge looks "sensitive" as it pulses with idle lopes. OR the needle is loose and bounces around from the idle car movement. But 20+psi at idle is fine. Anything I came across says 10psi per 1000rpm is good rule of thumb.

The factory gauge is about worthless or than telling you have oil pressure. Only way to know for sure is to use a certified manual pressure gauge.
My oil pressure went up 15 psi just by unplugging the sensor and plugging it back in........................................
