Default Buy new heads or not

i have a fresh lq4 forged callies rotating assembly. my problem is when i got the truck motor it had 330k on the motor still running good. it has a set of 317 heads. should i have them redone or buy new heads. if i have the redone and ported what what all will have to be done to them. this is a turbo engine and will be putting up around 800-1000hp. im starting to think it may be cheap to buy a set of heads with a thicker deck.

any thoughts on good aftermarket heads that arent going to break the bank.

sorry im new to the ls world

Send those heads off to AI or TEA....they will know what to do with them.

I vote TEA. They actually support their product and provide customer service.

Wanting 1000 hp I would get new heads. Porting heads to flow that much would get to costly..

that is a completely invalid argument.
To port heads to 1000hp NA then you have a point but for boost either of those companies normal porting will suffice.

AI had a customer put down over 1000rwhp through ported LT1 castings, a gen 3 motor makes it so much easier.

From what I have seen from sponsors etc porting a stock casting to flow 210 cfm on exhaust @5k it runs around a grand or more. I would go new.

If you say so. There are much better options out there that actually pick up the phone

True story but I only communicate with him via email because he says that's the best way for him. He just about gets back to me the same day every time.

Many folks to expect to purchase a friend on the other end of the phone line who will tell them how to build a whole car and bench race endlessly.

If you want to purchase a friend Phil probably isn't your guy.
If you want a great product he is a great choice.

I agree. I get my cams from someone I don't speak to. We email. It's all that's needed.

For boost I wouldn't run them as cast. Can it be done? Yes. Will it be "as efficient?" No.

Port them and slap em on.

Some people may want that but most just want service after the sale. Phil provides none. He will return your emails quickly before he gets your money but afterwards.... not. Not bashing just sharing my experience.
