Default Opinions on possible H/C Setup

So i am planning on doing a heads cam swap to my daily driver camaro. Car sees about 25 miles a day. It does sit in some traffic but usually not to bad. My plan is as follows:

Ported 799 heads w/comp .650 springs, Comp 232/236 .595/.602 114 LSA, LS6 intake, Z06 MAF, 98mm lid, ported TB, Longtubes with either SLP LM2 or borla cutback w/cutout.

I will be doing a bunch of other things while I'm there. Melling Oil pump, lifter, pushrods, rockers, fuel pump, etc.. maybe injectors.

Would this setup be DD friendly? I know with that cam its more of a high RPM cam which i am fine with. Looking for 430whp.

6 speed or A4? I drove a 233/239 .595 .607 daily for quite a while. It didn't faze me in the bit. How ever several friends drove the car and said there was no way they could handle it. It all depends on what you are willing to deal with.

6 speed car sorry. Monster stage 2 clutch, tick master, stock 10 bolt with 4.11 gears. honestly i don't care to much as long as its not bucking like a horse which i don't think it will unless I'm lugging it.

I honestly can't remember a time where I've seen an XER only lobed cam make decent torque. Maybe the El toro, but that's it. The torquers never really make much low end grunt either. Not trashing your thread OP, just thinking out loud. FWIW I made 420/400 at the wheels in a crate ls6 motor with quite possibly the worlds worst exhaust setup with a futral cam, pulled like hell all over the RPM range, much more so than my LSK/XER MS4. I vote smaller cam, mill the heads more, and enjoy usable torque that makes a DD worthwhile.

Setup is similar to mine. I run stage 3 livernois LS6 heads unmilled with TSP 233/239 on a 112. It does drive smooth. This is about as big as i would go on a daily driver though. I dont drive it much but it can be daily driven if needed.

I don't see that cam being difficult to daily drive, but that's going to differ from person to person.

Sounds like a good combo, yes I would do injectors for sure and a racetronix pump if budget allows.

thanks for the input guys. One of the reasons I'm thinking this cam is my buddy already has it. Barely used, looks new. Im a college student full time and work part time so money is a issue. I think i will save up and do injectors as well as a racetronix pump. Once the holidays are over Its going to be time to start spending some money haha

As a person who is also in college and trying to make time to work for parts, I understand where you're coming from and apologize for sounding like a dick.

Your stock injectors & pump are fine for that cam. And with 6* valve overlap, there will be some light throttle/low rpm surge/fishbite with a manual trans.

We can help you out with a drive able combo that will make good power for you. Going along with setting up your heads correctly to compliment the CNC work to ensure max life cycle. Your power goals are certainly attainable.

Since you said daily driver..... If you could ditch the 799 heads for some afr 220 by mamo you'll blast right past your goal with even a smaller camshaft which means better drivability and street manners. Sure it'll be more money but after you put your foot in the bowl I'm sure you'll forget about it.

I maxed my stock injectors with bolt ons and a 230/224 cam

when I put only mildly ported 799s and a 230/238 cam on the car I was hitting over 100% DC by around 4000 rpm

I don't understand how you guys get by on stock injectors, even my roommates cam/bolt on car is very much out of injector up top

which stock injectors did you have? The 26lb or 28.8's found in later LS1's?

I'd do something like an EPS 230/234 114+2. Mill the heads to 62 or 61cc, run Cometic .040s, and it'll drive pretty nice.

Yeah, I would do whatever it took to get something in there besides a shelf Comp grind (or a grind that came from Comp of any sort) if it were mine but that's just beating a dead horse

Ignore the reported DC and pay attention to air fuel ratio.
Reported DC is not accurate.
