Hey guys....I have a ql4 will the crankshaft and rods handle 500 crank hp and 400 ft pds/tor?

From what I have been told, the cranks are good to 600hp and the rods should do the same if you have them shot peened and resized. I hear the pistons are the weak point of the rotating assy.

Not to be that motor would see that kind of power all day long...but if I wanted to go to the track I would have it to play. Stock 87 monte carlo ss stock 373 7.5inch position with 4l80E trans

Thanks taxman that's what I've been told just trying to save a few bucks for a cruiser with power for the track for fun

You may want to look into upgrading the rear end in your SS. Those 7.5's break behind stock 305 power, especially if you ever intend on making that kind of power and taking it to the track.

The stock crank and rods have been to over 1000hp before, The generic numbers out there is 600-700hp but many have made more power then that. In this game its all a game of chance, and how much you want to gamble and how many times.

All day long if the tune is good and the car is not running extremely lean during WOT.
