Default Valve spring

I went to get my car tuned and the tuner said he wouldn't trust the springs !
Cam- 232/239 .595/.693
Springs- .625 single beehive
It is the texas speed package and I'm wondering because he said we could tune it if I wanted too so I was wondering if I really have too because if not I wont
It's a ls1

With that much lift I wouldn't dare use a single beehive spring. I would recommend btr 660 platinum springs..... the guy told you that just trying to save you misery in the long run.

Based on my EXPERIENCE a beehive can be fine at that lift and my experience is with heavier valves. Now this is aside from the fact lift isn't the whole story.
TSP is a good company, you bought the kit because you trust them.
Also understand that with an aftermarket can springs do wear out.

Is the exhaust life a typo? A cam with .693 lift has no place in a street car. Anyway assuming it is I'd find a different tuner. Beehives are safe as long as the are installed correctly and under their rated lift. BTR springs are great and if I was running lsk lobes or something aggressive like that then I would use them. However just like people try to get away with the bottom tier spring people also over spring.

Lots of members just go into threads spouting off whatever they heard is the best and use it as a blanket application. Duals when not needed make the valvetrain heavier and contribute to a harsher ride for the lifter which equals more wear. Each spring has their place like caprice said. Learn what it is and spring accordingly. And again anyone who thinks the tiny little spring inside duals is saving ther motor when one lets go at 6k near he red line better pass whatever they're smoking.

OP what kind of springs do you have? and can you post a link to the tsp cam you have?

I'm going to assume that the exhaust lift is a typo and you meant .593". If the tuner was told .693" lift, that would explain his apprehension. If the cam came from us, it won't have .693" lift. Only way that would be possible would be if you ordered a custom-grind and just provided the lobe numbers for the grind. Assuming the cam is really .593" lift, the single beehives will work just fine.

Send me an email at trevor@texas-speed.com with your name that was used to purchase the cam kit, and I'll look the order up to verify what you ordered.

Thanks!

you're good to go. too many people over spring because they feel its safer. Just eats up a few extra horsepower in my opinion. That cam is going to sound nice.
