Cool Technician Needed

I have a '64 Impala with a 5.7 liter engine that needs a new oil pump! It's currently at a car dealership in Marion, IN that wants to pull the engine/trans to the tune of $3600 to change the pump. Nobody else in the rational universe seems to think the drivetrain needs to come out to do this including the shop in Texas that built it. Does anyone in the Marion, IN vicinity know a reputable LS1 technician that can help? Marion is about half way between Ft. Wayne and Indianapolis. Thanks, I appreciate any assistance!!!

Good Luck with that.....ship the car back and let them repair it. You are going to get in way over your head. Or at least let them choose a repair shop they trust to do the work.
You realize if that engine was run without oil pressure it needs major repairs?

What should be done with this engine is pull it out, tear it down inspect everything do the repairs.

$3600 for an oil pump job? lol

Firstly, why does it need an oil pump?

Shouldn't have to pull the motor to change the oil pump. Especially in a car like a '64 Impala...don't have to in a fbody.

What symptoms do you have that prompted an oil pump change?
Was it the shop that determined this?
If it was, I'd be concerned about a $3600 bill at the hands of someone who wants to pull the engine.
You could do this with a couple of gaskets, some Loctite red, and a balancer puller.
