Default Pulled the engine out today and....

....after I put it on the engine stand and turned it over to start pulling the oil pan I could hear a ton of pieces fall inside. Pulled the oil pan and to my surprise it was worse than I thought. The windage tray was demolished, with pieces laying everywhere! Oil pan is no good, pickup obviously isn't any good either. After prying the windage tray back I found one rod missing, the other next to it only had the big portion of the arm left on the crank and the rest was missing, one piston was turned in it's bore as well. If I can get a digicam from a friend I'll take pics since mine broke the other day. Anyway looks like a few more unexpected expenses, this new buildup is freaking adding up quick!!

-Sly

P.S. Big thanks to NL, Becky, and Josh for the help!

Hey Sly, we enjoyed hanging out with you yesterday, and thanks for the breakfast, coke and best of all my chair! Sorry the engine is sooooo bad! Just a few more parts you are going to have to get for your new setup, including a new starter. But once you are in that new beast of yours pulling 600++++hp this will all be a distant memory.

It is a shame your camera is broke, people need to see this!

Ya I wish the camera were working this thing is pretty messed up. Anyway to answer a few peoples questions, the new setup being built right now with some other parts on the way consists of:

-NEW 6.0L Iron block, ARP main studs, ARP head studs, and machined for o-rings
-NEW Factory Nodular Iron crank
-Eagle 4340 H-Beam rods with ARP L19 rod bolts
-JE Forged Dished pistons (should be between 8.6:1 - 9:1 with the heads)
-Clevite Race bearings throughout

-The cam specs are still undecided but I'm looking at something along the lines of 230/225 .590/.575 115lsa + 2
-I will be using my current heads (Stage III LS6) after PP opens up the chambers a little and cleans them up. They will also be enlarging my intake valve from 2.055 to 2.08 and they will be sitting on top of cometic head gaskets with the wire o-rings installed on the block.
As far as the engine goes I have every other bolt on a N/A car can have.

The key to this engine will be the turbo setup which will be mounted at the rear of the car similar to the STS kit but it will be own setup
-Master Power T70 , .86 AR
-Tial 40mm Wastegate
-Tial 50mm BOV
-Turbonetics boost controller
-Methanol Injection kit

I'll be running about 5psi at first to be on the safe side and to tune the car. Once I finish upgrading the fuel system and get the methanol injection kit installed I plan to run 8-10lb's on the street and 20 at the track. Anyway now that I've bored everyone I'll try to get pics soon. Oh and Becky and NL, after closer examination I'll have to replace the oil pan as well, it too got damaged.

damn that sucks. a buddie of mine blew his up like that. he brought pieces of his motor to work in a box. the windage tray had a dent in it that looked like someone hit it with a hammer. the rod was in like 20 pieces and the lifters were cracked too. well good luck w/ the new motor.

lol actually I was planning to do the same thing, I have a bunch of the parts I put in a box and going to take them into work tuesday. I have to replace 2 of the lifters as well because they were basically swelled in their bore and wouldn't come out.
