Questions on Cam build
A new LS chain which fits your stock gears is only forty bucks and a new oil pump is in the 125-150 range. If you can afford a set of good used 243/799 castings, the upgrade would certainly help even if you cant send them out for cnc porting. A valve job, clean up surface, and dual spring kit (also from Tooley) combined with some .040" Cometic head gaskets would give 11 to one compression to help the larger cam thump with some intensity.
An LS6 intake for $350-400 would also be in that 5-8 rear wheel horsepower.
That's where the combo makes sense. The TFS As-Cast 220s at 63cc chambers or so with the 228/232 111+3 would be pretty satisfying in a street car.
With the amount of miles on the clock 180,000 i believe is what the OP stated, the cam bearings are going to have a lot of wear on them. If they show any of the copper looking color then they will definitley need to be replaced. Just keep this in mind when you tear into it.
I also agree with the other guys about using a less aggressive cam lobe, especially if this is a daily driver.
