I have broke valve springs on 5 different occasions. Having said that, I can almost guarentee the valve is bent from hitting the piston. That head will have to come off. BTW I just put the Rev 1116s on the car and got about 120 miles. BAM broken spring, bent valve and have to pull the heads again. Gotta love it.

I got my Patriots way back last August and along with Whistler called to attention the rocker and spring clearance issues with the original dual springs. Here are some pics I took Labor Day weekend last year. I have not broke a spring yet, but did manage to snap a rocker bolt a few months back. Think I will be calling Terry soon.

Not for nothing, but Patriot seems to have gotten it's act together. If I was looking for an inexpensive set of heads I'd look at them. They may not flow as well as some more expensive heads, but they flow pretty good. Good set of heads if you want to go with a mild cam. Might want them if I slap that LS6 cam like I want to do to my other Z.

I don't think the valve is bent. It is still symetrical with the other valves and the valve spring is actually seperated in one place but still "intact". So the Valve is most likely not bent. I only have a mild lift cam (TR 224).

That wasn't my experience. I ordered heads with the new springs/retainers. They came with the springs, but not the retainers. TSP had me call Terry, who told me he would overnight the correct retainers/keepers, and took my cell number "in case there were any problems". Days go by and they don't show. I call back, and Terry tells me that the owner won't let him ship them until I return the old parts. Why didn't he call me to tell me this? The heads were already on the motor, so pulling all the retainers and keepers would have been painful at best.

TSP ended up pulling a set off a set of heads they had in stock and overnighted them to me

heritage,
You have some major valve float issues. With the retainers edge worn all away around the retainer is moving on top of the spring. It would be my guess the lifter have floated and harmonic set the springs. Because of this the seat pressure is week and the valve is bouncing on the seat during closing.
