Advice please. LS6 dry sump connection.
My otherwise stock LS6 has been converted to dry sump oiling. I have two options for connecting the external components.
1. Scavenge outlet goes first to the thermostat. When the stat is closed, oil goes to the top of the tank and is drawn from the bottom by the stock internal pressure pump. When the stat is open, oil is diverted through the cooler before going to the top of the tank.
2. Scavenge outlet goes straight to the top of the tank. Pressure pump draws oil out of the bottom of the tank through the stat. If the stat is open, the pressure pump draws oil from the tank, through the stat and round the cooler loop.
Option 1 advantages are that the scavenge pump is pushing oil all the way to the top of the tank in both stat conditions and the pressure pump draws oil directly the short distance from the bottom of the tank. Disadvantage is that aerated oil is fed to the cooler limiting its effectiveness.
Option 2 advantage is that oil to the cooler has passed through tank de-aeration, improving the effect. Disadvantage is that the pressure pump must draw oil from the tank all through the pipework, fittings and cooler matrix of the stat + cooler loop.
Pumps are better at blowing than sucking and the stock pressure pump was designed to draw directly from the wet sump. Will it be reliable in an Option 2 install?
I'm building one of these www.gdcars.com/cars/t70-moda and using a dry sump kit from www.paceproducts.co.uk

Looks nice! Why is the steering wheel on the wrong side??

Hopefully, some of our guys experienced in dry sump stuff will jump in here and get you straightened out.
