Another hot cam thread

Hi guys I am planning on installing a hot cam on my car along with some 3.42 gears. Car has is a 5.7 A4 full exhaust LID, SSRA, ls6 intake and tune. I know there are better choices out there but that cam is what I want since the car is a DD. My question is how reliable is a car with a Hot cam? I drive from Dallas to Houston all the time, Is that feasible without having any issues?

PS i know there are lots of threads for the HotCam but I cant seem to find any that talk about making long trips with it.

Thanks that was a little helpful.Anyone else drive their Hot cam ls1 on a road trip every once in a while?

If it helps, I drove mine from Nashville to Dallas to Vegas and then back to Nashville....No problems at all.

That is what I wanted to hear. I just wasnt sure how well a cammed car will do on long trips. This is my first car with a cam so I dont know much about them.

I installed one in my best friends car about 4-5 years ago, still runs fine and he has put a ton of miles on it since then. Decent cam, was a complete pita to tune though for some reason.

Thanks fellas I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it. It will actually have a little more lift than the typical hotcam 219/228 .550/.550 112lsa cam So it should have good street manners for a daily but make a little bit more power than the typical hot cam
