Default Which oil

Just have a question of what oils do you guys recommend? I usually use Mobil 1 and I went on their website and they gave me a list of different oils to use ranging from extended performance, better mpg etc. Im going with synthetic also if anyone has used Lucas heavy duty stabilizer in their cars. Im thinking of using it cause of the piston slap I have.
Thanks guys appreciate it!!!!!!!

The VAST majority or responses you will get are going to be brand loyalty based on marketing.

Last I looked into it Lucas was just thick oil with no additives, if you think that is beneficial then just buy the oil you like in a thicker grade so you don't dilute the additive package the way the Lucas crap would.

If you think a thicker oil is beneficial and think M1 is good just pick a 40weight M1 0w, 5w, or 10w really wont matter.

You will always have piston slap it's the nature of the beast. ^^ do what he says, myself run 5w40 schaffers. My car mostly sees track times and street runs. That's what I like to use. Also used 10w30 vr1 valveoline.

There are three Mobil-1 oils on the shelf these days of that weight. Use the "High Mileage" version. It has higher viscosity at 100 degrees C than the other two and it doesn't meet the newest API standard that requires removal of ZDDP. It is the closest one to the Mobil-1 that was on the shelf when your car was new. The European Mobil-1 0W40 is a great oil as well, but might a little to heavy for the stock motor and isn't recommended by GM.

Keep in mind that M1 is not a true synthetic oil. It is a highly refined dino oil, and will not perform as well as a true synthetic. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as most cars don't really need a true synthetic.

But, if you're paying synthetic prices for M1, that makes it a bad value.
