Default what 383 parts to run

So I have a 5.3 in my truck that will eventually need to be rebuilt. I've decided on a 383 build but I don't really know what parts to get, scat or eagle. I guess my question here is what is better for a daily? What would you run and why? And do you have part numbers and/or links?

Stay far far away from Eagle!! I rather put my money on scat parts but ultimately I would look into K1 components before callies. Callies stuff is awesome but cost a little bit more than the K1 stuff......

What's wrong with eagle? I'm just curious, I've heard mixed things about them

Cool! So do they do the same 4" stroke as the eagle crank and 6.125 rods or should I try to stay away from that set up?

Nothing wrong with 4" stroke but I'd stay away from eagle. Some of the sponsors on here don't even sell Eagle products cause of problems.... A K1 crank is the same cost as a eagle crank (800 bucks)
K1 is the way to go!!

I've been looking at Texas speed & performance. They sell the whole thing for about 2300 with the k1 crank. I figure that with a 228/228 cam with a 112 lsa would run pretty Good. Maybe a 2.02 or 2.05 valve. I'll be running factory port and polished heads. I've heard the one's I have are really good from the factory

I would pick a vendor or local shop and see what they like to use and pick from their list.

What is the rest of the plan? Too many folks get caught up in a blind quest for displacement and botch the rest. The shortblock is about the most expensive place to try and make power.

A 228/228 cam with 112 lsa, 2.02 or 2.05 valve possibly 10:1 compression, a 3400 stall tq eventually I'm lifting it with 4.56s and 35s

Pop the hood..... look at the passenger side head. Should be a 3 digit number on the end of the cylinder head.

True those do have either 243 or 799 heads which work really well with just a quality valve job. The factory valve seats can't go 2.05 (2.02 max). Also there is a guy in the classified (probably a few pages back) that is selling some lightweight hollow stem LS6 valves which allow a few extra rpms as well as spring stability.
I definitely second the TSP rotating kit with the K1 crank....

With the size cam I'm running should I use a let valve spring? And factory push rods? I heard something about my heads maybe having clearance issues

Do you have a suggestion of where I could get those? Or should I just go to summit?

I think you are far too concerned with displacement and valve size and are going to have a hard time putting a well thought out combination because of it.

HEADS are arguable the biggest factor in HP, figure out what heads you have this is the foundation of the engine then work out from there, or decide if you need to buy something else.
Lots of porters reuse stock valves don't be in such a blind rush to put bigger ones in, larger can be of benefit but is money poorly spent if you think that is THE factor.

I have the the 799 heads. Which are basically ls6 heads just not cleaned up but I'd doesn't mean anything since they'll be ported and polished. I'll be running a 2.02 valve since previously stated by A.R. Shale Targa they can't take a 2.05 valve. I'm not in any rush to get this done as it sits right now I have just enough for the rotating assembly from tsp
