my instructor is a hoot...
And right now, I'm in the midst of installing the dowel pins. Except I'm very sceptical if they are ALL the way in. They both stop at the same length...and I measured the length of the heads (assuming that's about how long the cam is) and it came out to be 20" ish... And measured dowels before hand and marked at 20" inches. But just to make sure, I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how you know when the dowel pins are touching the rear of the motor and not hitting on a lifter?
I put the pushrods back in( with dowel pins already in as far as I can get them)...to see if the pushrods still move up when I rotate cam by hand... And they still go up a little! Then I'll push pushrods back down a tad...then rotate cam, and they come back up. Assuming the cam is just lifting up on the pin AND the lifter??
Thanks! And my instructor is going to get it when I return it to school with a smile on my face

If you want a good reference, measure the length of the cam. The dowels won't go in any further than that

replacing the springs with compressed air or rope is nothing new and hardly a gen 3 thing. this has been done for many years and certainly long before i was born.
Told him it was a breeze!! Now to just rev it up after class as I leave.. Lol
