Sounds great. Is a new maf needed with the intake setup?

I would lol the 74mm will be a restriction. For a mild cam a z06/truck maf will be fine. They are called 85mm but are really 90 i.d

Not to be that guy, but I put down 420 rwhp with a LS6 intake, home ported (really just cleaned up) 799 heads, and my screened tiny stock 1998 MAF, combined with an "old" TR 230/224 grind through 1 7/8" headers. Just saying Power is in the combination of parts, and in my opinion air speed right up to before going sonic. I think the LS6 intake starts to find its limit around 265CFM. And remember air flow in an engine is not linear, but rather pulses. There is a point where a head and intake will "back up". Air speed and volume gets tricky.

Your combo made really good power with an ls6 intake, that doesnt mean though it wouldnt have made more through a fast. I made 425 with my setup below and an ls6 intake with completely stock 243's after the FAST and a couple touch ups it made 448.

Heads will always be the next best upgrade over a cam and the combo matters very much so. But a FAST will still gain him. The ls6 is choking the motor with a small cam and 243's no doubt.

My setup will include, fast tb/intake with maf, hotcam, and headers..... 241s tho. Hopefully they aren't too restrictive compared to 243s.
I will probably do mail order tune by Frost..? Hp numbers will go up a tad with tune correct ?

Haven't seen anyone mention this to the OP, but make sure you DO NOT buy a FAST TB. Nick Williams is superior to the FAST.I have a Fast 92 and the tune has never been spot on.

Fast intake causes tune to be off? Which one in particular? I've never came across someone saying that

Fast throttle body, not the intake.

Yep lol any time you make a significant change to the air going in or out of the engine you need a tune. The fast intake will be sucking in so much more air than now it will throw the maf calibration out, also if you get a bigger maf that has to be calibrated to your car as well even if you didnt change the intake. Headers also need a tune due to relocating the o2's and changing the exhaust flow. Long story short do all the mods at once and then get a tune

I wasn't planning on getting tune until everything was ordered. 243 heads, 1 7/8 headers, intake manifold, and ... maybe fast tb? confused on what the problem is with that considering tuning issues?

If you buy a fast tb and have an aftermarket cam you'll find out. Ask the person tuning your car. He should be able to answer that question if he's experienced.

So what would the preference for a tb be then if FAST is out of the question?
