Default PTV double check...

Whats up guys,

Long story short is I was lazy and had my H/C set up installed by a friend of a friend who turned out to be a hack and is no longer in business...made it 2500mi and my ATI balancer backed off into my steering rack(2004 z06). As I pulled stuff apart I found oil leaks and other half ***'ness(loose bolts etc.)

Anyway I yanked the heads and I'd appreciate it if anybody could tell me if my PTV check method was on par...

1. Installed lifters/trays
2. Stock MLS .051 head gasket
3. Snugged head on with two bolts(#1 cylinder)
4. Using check springs...installed rockers to zero lash
5. Turned engine over 3 times and back to TDC on #1

Using clay....intake .071 and exhaust .115

Heads are RHS 225's(2.05"/1.60") 62cc
Comp cam 232/240 .608/.595 112 XER lobes

Its my first go around doing this with an LSx...appreciate any feedback including if I screwed it all up. Thanks in advance

Exhaust clearance looks great but that intake clearance is not enough. .100 is the minimum clearance to look for according to every cam manufacturer that I have seen. Personally I like to use a ls7 lifter that I have modified with washer inside to make it solid even with the check springs and I also will measure more then once

I have always seen .080" intake and .100 exhaust. If your measurements are correct, I would run it. Remember, the intake valve chases the piston down. I would be a little more concerned if it was the exhaust valve that was that tight. What did you use for a gasket when you snugged the head up for measuring?

Yeah, I've been told and heard the same. The motor has ran with this set up already and I used the old GM MLS head gaskets that were in it. It's tighter than I'd like on the intake but i've ran into the 6800rpm limiter more than I should admit with those numbers.

The guy who put it together never checked PTV. Truth be told with the 2.05" valve I thought it was going to be tighter.
