Default Cam Question????

Will the G5X2/112 or G5X3/114 work with Patriot LS6 style heads with the 59cc chambers? Also, if anyone is running one of these setups how does it perform? Thanks

You'll have to flycut the pistons for both of those cams definitely, since they have bigger than stock valves and the heads have been milled.

my guess is you will need to flycut.......I think the G5X stuff just fits with with stock heads so larger valves and/or any mill will cause them to hit.

I agree with My LS1hauls,
with 59 CC that will yield a 11.4:1 CR.
X3 apparently has a 0.070" PV clearance on 67 CC heads (Very Tight).

I don't think the heads are milled on the Patriot heads. They get the 59cc from welding and resizing the chamber I believe.

Hmm..didnt realize anyone was welding chambers. It may fit if it has stock valves, but then again, I'd measure before starting it up.

One option is to check how far the Intake valve will drop into the motor with the piston at TDC. The accepted amount is about .200" IIRC. That will let you know if you even have a prayer of it fitting, due to valve location in the head.

I did a G5X2 114 on a set of GTP Stage II heads with larger valves and no milling with no problems whatsoever... and the rev limiter has been hit on bottle a few times without having contact

I had a valve drop of .181" on my heads even with the thicker MLS head gaskets. You'll just have to check what yours is, and if it's less than .200", then it won't fit.

And, no the LS6 style heads aren't milled nor will the slightly larger intake valve eat up very much clearance. More importantly, it depends on how deep the seats are cut when the heads are built.
