Engine Experts! Requesting help - technical advice!
I have completely torn down my engine to install the heads and cam package listed in my sig. Engine was running great prior to project. SUV has 198K miles on it. I don't know for sure this is the original engine.
ANYWAYS.
I was just about to put the cam in and then slap the heads on. I noticed it looks like there is some yellowish metal showing through on the very front cam bearing. The cam itself looks fantastic and the bearing is very smooth.
Should I just go ahead and finish up the project or should I try and replace these?
The front bearing looks very easy to get to but I am not sure how I would get to the remaining 4 bearings further back. Would that require removal of the rotating ASM to get those bearings? The oil pan is off and it looks like I can remove the rotating parts while the motor is in the truck. If needed...
My motor is a early year 2004 LQ4 with the not as good rods. If this requires the removal of the rotating ASM are there better parts I can install in their place without having machine shop skills? I am diligent and have a lot of tools but I wouldn't know anything about balancing parts or honing an engine.
If this issue requires the removal of the motor from the engine bay the project has gotten a little too complex because I only have a one car garage.
Any help is highly appreciated!

yea im thinking I will probably run it. from the research i have done so far it looks like you can replace bearing 1 2 and 3 from the front. I would have to remove the tranny to get 4 and 5. I could do that but I am not sure if it is worth the work. Don't drive this vehicle much right now. I might put 10 000 miles on it in the next couple of years. Mostly during winter. If the motor can last 10 000 miles by then im planning on having a bigger garage.
