How much is his budget?
A 243 head ported can be hard to beat. A cathedral head would match that cam well.
A LS3 head not so much.....

"Budget" can mean a lot of different numbers. Cheapest compromise between performance and price? 243/799 heads used in the 500 range. Fairly big bump in performance? Send the 243/799 to AI or TEA for porting for around 1200-1300. All out? Call Tony Mamo to spec everything out cam heads, everything.
A good cam to go with a set of stock or ported heads on a 6.0? I'd start with tick performance street heat or Saturday Night Special stage 2

What heads does he have on the block right now? If you already have some 243s or 317s for around 1000 bux you can send those over to AI, TEA or many of the other performance shops and they can port them.
You he can buy LS3 heads and keep them stock and make just as much power as those ported heads, although he might have to get a different cam.

I see L92 heads going for around $500 in the classifieds.... Plus $220 I believe is what BTR springs go for. They flow extremely well. If you still have some extra cash after buying the heads and springs maybe you can have them milled, or do some minor porting, ect.
