Melling 10296 is what I would use

Melling 10295 is what I use. It has 75psi @ idle when cold and about 65-70 @ idle when hot. This is on a stock 2007 LQ4 shortblock with 5W-30 oil.

10295 is a favorite here. Its a high pressure standard volume unit.

Get a different engine builder lol.

With a remote filter, oil cooler, and clearances that big, you're going to want some thing like a Melling 10355. It's their VVT/DOD version oil pump with a higher volume than the 10296.

A 10296 pump would probably work too, but you're likely going to see really low oil pressure at idle with a 10295.

Kind of off topic, would the 10296 be okay for a street car or the 10295 even if it's just a heads/cam SBE car?

Either one would be fine. I'd lean towards the 10295 though for a SBE.

If you have 65 at idle hot what is it Gina be at 7,000rpm? That scares me

That's funny because I run a 10296 (high volume) and I never starved my oil pan. I know of several others running the 10355, which is even higher volume, and they haven't had any issues either.

I run a ported VVT/DOD GM pump by Synergy. I run 60 PSI hot idle. It builds to about 75 over 5000.

Ok apparently he didnt know i had a 7.5qaurt pan even tho i told him.. i may didtch the oil cooler for now but still need the remote oil filter, just so happend i have a overkill one that was laying around and my cousin gave it to me, it uses a 2q fillter... and prob another 1/2 q in the lines... so that puts me at 10 quarts of 15/40 lol... ok if your 75 at 5k.. whats it gonna be at 7... and what oil do you run... also how do these hi volume pumps work? Do they actually have a diffrent drive or bigger casting? Or are they just ported pumps falsely claimed as hi volum? Because a stock pan i would assume would def be dry at 7k with a hi volume

I have that pump in my motor. It wasn't safety-wired, I suppose that's an option?

I did a cranking speed test to check for leaks and pressure:
