I've got a 99 T/A with 4700 miles on it, after changing the oil the engine now has a tick. Starts after 1 minute very slightly and gets louder as it warms up, after about 5 minutes it stops. If you hit the throttle you can slightly hear it. What's going on, since this car hasn't been driven a lot can something have dried up. If it's a lifter or 2 can you just replace the lifters or is a cam swap better, thanks.
Obviously drive it cautiously and what is your oil pressure at idle my car had similiar mileage when purchased and really it just needed to be driven and all the valvetrain quietend up alot. Have seen a few that have sat awhile with stuck relieve valves in pumps typically that generates higher oil pressures though. And what weight oil, how much and what filter, did it do it before oil change ?
Thanks guys, 5-30 Pennzoil Synthetic, stock AC Delco filter, filled up to where it's supposed to be. When I bought this car last year it didn't do this, it was quiet. I've looked up all the different additives you can put in their all saying they work, but it's an expensive oil change. So I'm going to make a short video in a little while, then take it for a drive.
TAKE IT OUT AND DRIVE IT MY CAR HAD 5500 MILES ON IT IN 12 YEARS OF ITS LIFE EVERYTHING WAS DRY I DID SUBSTITUTE LUCAS OIL STABIL FOR ONE QUART OF OIL AND IT HELPED BUT THE MAJOR FACTOR WAS DRIVING IT AND GETTING EVERYTHING UP TO OPERATING TEMP, HOT, LUBRICATED AND EXPANED AND IT HAS BEEN QUIET FOR 60K MILES NOW THESE CARS SIT AND ITS PROBABLY THE WORST THING FOR THEM I HAVE ANOTHER ceta TRANS AM WITH 1000 MILES AND HAVE HAD TO RESEAL DAMN NEAR EVERTHING LOL SO I STARTED DRIVING IT WHEN ITS NICE

I can tell you what I did and mine is quiet as a mouse now. I put 3ozs of TransX transmission additive in the engine along with 8 ozs of Lucas SYNTHETIC Oil Stabilizer<be sure to use the right Lucas product, the older regular THICK AS SNOT Lucas is not good for this.
Engine had cold ticky tappy and hot ticky tappy, now its so quiet I can hear mice farting as I drive. Plus it just flat out runs smoother and has more power and a little tiny bit better fuel mileage.
Now I know there is going to be people who will tell you Lucas is NFG and will cause the SKY to FALL and the Oil will FOAM and on and on<But it aint TRUE. Who ya gonna believe ME? OR some other NUT on the net?
I never lie! Plus I'm a nice person and I smell good and only fart away from people.
