Default ls1 vs lq4 shortblock for my setup?

So i was about to freshen up my ls1 as its already out of the car. Im gonna buy a new cam and already have prc stg 1 799 heads on my ls1. I now have the chance to get a clean lq4 motor for $300 so my question is what kind of advantage would a see with the 6.0 over the 5.7 with my heads and a big cam such as a ms4 or equivalent? Ive seen some dynos where the 6.0 just made like 15lb of torque more and similar hp. I figure the c.i. increase would net me some extra hp? Btw im running a t56 with stock gears for now as well as an ls6 intake but i plan to go f.a.s.t. eventually. Also running 1 3/4 headers and replacing y pipe with 3" duals. So is the 6.0 worth the extra weight is my real question. Im not trying to go stroker as im trying to keep this a budget build.

You pretty much nailed it...if all else is exactly the same between the two then the only difference will be the extra torque more or less. I should know since this is basically what I did when switching to the LQ9 over the LS1

Did you notice a positive difference in performance or did the weight just cancel out the extra torque? Basically if you ran the lq9 against the ls1 do you think 1/4 mile times would go down? I was wondering if both had optimum cams, the 6.0 would win. It almost sounds like refreshening my ls1 would be better. I know with my old 350, when i stroked it to 383 it got alot faster with the same mods

If a ms4 cam was meant to maximize hp on a stock 346 then maybe even a little bigger cam could bring out more hp on a 6.0? I always use to think going to a 6.0 from a 5.7 would put out like 50 more hp. When illooked at h/c packages like from trick flow, the 6.0 would advertize 50 extra hp.

Yes you can run a slightly bigger cam on a 6.0 and still have the same drivability. When I changed to the LQ9 I did so in various stages. At first the only difference was that added compression due to the flat top pistons. The 6.0 did feel a bit more torque but not necessarily any faster from what I could tell. And shortly after I did other changes that did in fact make a difference

My car was a touch slower than a similar modded ls1 with the lq9.
