Default Installing 2005 Corvette LS2 Cam and Intake on the LS1

I have a LS1 99 F-body engine. I was wondering if it is possible to install a 2005 Corvette LS2 camshaft and intake manifold on this LS1? I like the fact that the 2005 LS2 camshaft RPM is at 6000 RPM with 6500 RPM max. LS1 RPM is only at 5200 so I have the shift point is set at 6300 RPM. IMO the LS1 peak RPM is too low at 5200.

If yes the LS2 camshaft and intake manifold will work, will it make more power over the LS1 cam and intake?

Is the LS2 intake better than the LS6?

Thanks!

The LS2 intake is worse than the LS6. This is a bad idea

The ls2 cam is the same as the 2001 ls6 cam both are terrible choices. The ls2 intake sucks and the cam is only marginally bigger than an ls1.

Get an ls6 intake and then a mild cam and you will blow away any stock engine combo. You could go to an ls6 cam from 02-04 but even then the gains aren't too large

OP, like they said the LS2 cam isn't worth it. But from what you described something is way off. The intake runners on the heads pretty much force peak torque at 4800 rpm and peak power at 6300.

I went through this and found the cam was way off grind. In your case the factory cam is probably off a tooth on the chain making it run with pretty severe advance. Let me guess - it's incredibly torque and once you hit 5000 rpm your get better power to up shift?

Don't know what other mods you have or are intending but I suspect your timing set is loose and needs replacing. May as well swap in a decent cam while you're in there.

So what's a decent cam? Depends on your intake, exhaust, and heads. If everything is bone stock, get a drop in cam from cam motion. If you're planning long tubes, up graded intake, etc, there are tons of options.

Ehh not really an ls1 cam will peak right around 5400 and fall off close to 6. When you go to a bigger cam it then becomes the intake that determines the peak.

The LS2 cam is ok at best but has no cam sensor since they moved it to the timing gear. This may be ok for you if you're upgrading to an LS2 timing set but you'll need the front cover. The LS2 intake can shine but the LS6 is better and you already have it. There are plenty of cam only setups 380+rwhp.

Thanks everyone for your common sense replies. I like what you all had to say. I will stick with a LS6 intake. I will be replacing the LS1 intake soon, LOL.

Check out the Dorman replacement ls6. It's quite a bit cheaper than a new one and with a tad bit of handy work with a dremel will perform just as good or better than an oem one

Thanks for the info! What is the biggest throttle body can I use on this Dorman intake manifold? Has anyone used this Dorman brand? If yes did you see a big improvement?
