Red, I used the springs the heads came with. I took all the other rockers off and the plugs were out. That way I was only fighting one spring.

I'm sure you know this but shim both rockers since they are shaft mounted, they have to be shimmed identically to get a good pattern.

Also, I had issues getting a good clean pattern. I used gray moly grease, put some on and kept dabbing it with a clean finger until there was so little on the valve tip that you could only tell by how dull it was that there was anything there.

i thought about doing that but I am a little worried about not getting the full lift from the lifters. Although I suppose if I start the car and let the lifters pump up then turn it off and tear it down it should be ok

if this helps - i didn't get full lift either. You need some lash to avoid smearing it. In the end if you go with what gives you a tight, centered pattern, it would be the same if you got full lift.

Good Choice, I run manton series 3 moly 3/8" PR's but the 11/32 are good too. They are nice quality and you get what you pay for.

Good stuff I'll probably go that route is that what Tony recommended you do? And nice going on your build btw I can't wait to see what numbers it throws down

I bought them when I bought some other parts but you should be able to get some springs that will work from Home Depot or a hardware store. Just need to fit over the valve seal and be light enough to work with. I installed them by compressing by hand so mine were pretty light. Maybe a tad too light as sometime it was hard to see the wipe pattern.

yep, that was Tony's instructions. I think that was the one time he wanted to slap me because I kept using too much grease and smearing the pattern. We were on the phone for two hours that night.

And thanks! Me too neither. I would say part throttle mid range feels like full power on the old build. She'll be a handful. In a good way

Cool man so did you just use a stock pushrod and then not bolt them down fully to get the rockers to have some lash in them?

I used an adjustable rod. Found zero lash, closed it a half turn, and used that. The stock rods were .300 too short. If you're not swapping heads you might be able to use the stock rods and have some lash but not much.
