Default Lifted head NA?

My car pushed water tonight after making passes at the track. Antifreeze like crazy out of the overflow. The car has never had spray or boost. I have cometic .04 gaskets and Arp head bolts. Is it possible that I lifted a head? Is there any other causes of pushing water? It's late and we just got home I'm going to get it tested tomorrow to see if there's any compression leaking into the system?

All during racing it was normal. On the way home it overheated. That's when I noticed it had pushed antifreeze out of the overflow. We let it cool off put some water in the radiator and drive it another 50 miles home and it was fine. Probably no more than 180 on the way home.

Check out the overflow. They suck on these cars. It's possible during a run you spiked the temp a bit and the overflow got temperamental.

Otherwise, you wouldn't be pushing coolant NA. But you may have a leak with the Cometics.

That's what I'm thinking. It's something to do with the cometic leaking

Probably a bad cap. Does the cooling system build pressure?

This happened to me one time, I think it was just a air pocket I never got rid of that finally blew through. Never overheated again after. When I tore down for my current build there was no evidence of coolant leaks at the head gaskets. Had MLS also. FWIW

Ya I had the same thing happen after a bad cap. Usually when cosmetics leak they do so externally so if the outside of the block is dry it's unlikely they're leaking internally.

What's a good cap to upgrade to. When we took the cap off the car was still plenty warm and there wasn't nearly as much pressure as I expected to come out of it

Standard 18lb cap at the parts store is fine. Get a tester while you're there and check the old one. It's should hold at least 15 with no issues

Check the old cap? Or you mean check the system for leaking off?

Park the car so that its slightly uphill and the cap is the highest point in the cooling system. Buy a new cap..... start the car (cold) and let it run (with the old the cap off) while adding coolant for 2-3 minutes (I also barely rev the engine from the throttle body to help push bubbles through)....when it appears to be full, reinstall your new cap and continue to let it run until operating temp is reached.... squeeze the top hose going to the radiator and check for pressure. The hoses should get hot and firm and the fan should kick on after several minutes if everything is working correctly. Good luck

both. the same kit that will attach the to rad to check the system will come with a separate adapter to allow it to connect to the cap.
