New engine build, first start, oil everywhere
So I built the motor to drop into my gto. Gen iv lq motor, at first start up the engine puked oil all out the back of the engine. Oil pan looks dry. Any ideas on what to check? I'm just feeling like **** now that I've invested so much money and time and now I'm back to square one. Yay I get to pull the tranny again -__-
Oil pressure sending unit. To see if it's installed? Or what should I be looking for? I installed it but it didn't look like it was right. It was just threaded into the valley cover. In the back but not actually in the block itself. Hopefully that's all it is.

So could it be the valley cover i uave installed is wrong amd allowing oil to leak from the top? I felt around the oil pressure sensor and i can feel oil back there so it has to be coming from that area.
Yeah it's possible. I just don't think a whole lot of oil gets up there though. The OPSU however is fed pressurized oil so if the seal is broken or the sensor isn't tight, it would dump a lot of oil quickly.
Ya it was a lot of oil and the car only ran for maybe a minute. It made a pretty big pool under the car. So I'll have to double check that and make sure it's installed correctly. Idk how it's supposed to read the pressure if it's not threaded in the block???
The display said low oil pressure. Probably spit out half the oil. Any other things I should check out? I'm gonna disassemble top of the motor (intake, Valley cover etc) to make sure it's not leaking out of the pressure sensor hole. Hopefully that's all it is.
I'll admit I laughed when I saw the pic.
I'll also admit that myself included there isn't a person on the boards who hasn't done something just as dumb.
It's nice when folks post it so others can see what happened. Sometimes obvious is only obvious after it kicks u in the nuts.
