Default Another Stroker Thread

Hey guys, LSX newb here. Ive read/searched a LOT about building a LQ4 408 stroker N/A, and the more I read the more conflicted i become; you can get lost in here.

Im looking for a well built N/A motor comprised of parts choices that compliment one another as much as possible. My approach is build it right (the first time) and the #s will follow. This is where my head is at:

LQ4 block
L92/LS3 Castings ported to match cam
TSP Texas Giant Cam 248/254 .615/.622 LSA?
LS3 Intake
Forged pistons w/reliefs

The goal is 11.5:1 compression. I know that with cams bigger doesn't mean better, but from what I understand with a 408 the extra cubes need lots of head flow/cam. This is going into a 2nd gen RX7.

Please let me know if I am totally off base here. I want to get a solid plan of attack solidified before I start buying parts, and I feel bad calling sponsors at this point just to pick their brains.

Thanks in advance

IMO you would completely ruin the weight distribution with a featherlight RX7 and a heavy iron block; I assume it's going to be built to handle decent? Why would you want to add 100+ lbs on the wrong end of the car if not pushing 700+ HP on boost?

One of the main benefits of the LS swap is low weight for it's HP rating....in that regard you would be a fool not to run a 100 lb lighter LS3 aluminum block unless this is a drag car

Well, I figured it would save a good chunk of change/not matter bc the RX7 is already so damn light. And yes I am picturing this as a drag car, not a handler. I have my R1 for the corners

Cam is Completely Wrong for LS3/Square Port Heads!
Intake duration is at least 14* To Large and the exhaust
Split needs to be at least 8-12* larger than the intake.
Talk with Kip @ CAM MOTION once you have settled on
Heads and porting. Cam selection is very important when
Putting square ports on a 408", easy to blow it!

Thanks a TON. This is exactly what I'm looking for
