98 z28 engine block good for build?

98 z28 engine block good for build? My 98 Camaro has a bent rod so have to replace at least one rod and piston. I've been hearing about oiling issues on this year block so my plans to build it might just turn into me fixing what needs fixed until I find something better to build. Is this a true problem? If so what would you all recommend for now or later as far as a swap? Or is there any way to fix mine if it is a problem?
It's not the best block to start with, but it's ok for a mild 347-395ci. The older LS1 blocks do not have a crossover in the back connecting the oil galleys that feed the lifters, they have a casting in the valley that would need to be cut away if you plan to use an LS6 PCV system, and like all LS1 blocks, they do not have the bay to bay windows under the cylinders like the LS6 and some newer blocks do.
There are better blocks out there, but what you have isn't bad. I would check that cylinder with the bent rod for a cracked sleeve though if I were you.

I've check the block and so far so good. I will let my engine builder know if I decide to go with that block. So my plans were for a stock rebuild small cam and around 100 shot of nitrous and headers. intake. Block be decent reliable for that?
