Differences in rod and main bearings. I've got a couple LS1 blocks laying around and seeing as how mileage is clicking up on my camaro I'm considering throwing a spare short block together. This will be a heads/cam motor at most but what's the real differences for the brand of bearings. Is one really better than the other if it's not a dedicated race car. Like federal mogul vs clevite etc. I plan on arp rod bolts resize and stock everything else.
They are all pretty good. King and Clevite are the main ones for rod and mains. Some run a little tighter than others. If you are looking for factory clearances just go for the Clevite std bearings. Make sure to check your rods after they are resized. They may need oversized bearings.
