Valve Spring Thoughts Needed Please
The good news is that the valve and piston appear to be unharmed. I will confirm with a leakdown test tomorrow.
I need to get a set of valve springs ordered today and I don't have any idea which ones I should get.
I don't really need anything special at this point (just ones that won't break) because in the next couple of years I will be building a monster motor and that build will get the ELS (Expensive, Lightweight Stuff). The motor is stock except for an intake and tune.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to point me in the right direction.
Rick
If you want an upgraded beehive, except no substitute and run the PSI 1511ML spring kit. That is THE best beehive on the market for LSX engines and they'll give you room to grow. Those springs will take .630-.640 lift with zero problems.
Thanks for getting back to me.
I've been looking at doing the LS3 springs because this motor is going to stay stock until I build something exciting a couple of years from now. I'm kind of hoping by the time I'm ready to build, the LT1 will be figured out and I can build one of those.
I was looking aftermarket because I figure if I am going to put new parts in, as long as the price isn't out of line, I might as well put good stuff in (just in case I decide to do a cam or something later...)
I went on your website but don't see the parts listed. Can I purchase through you or should I just get them through the normal sources? (You shared your experience...I'd like to thank you by letting you make a little money for helping me out.)
What do you like for a valve spring compressor tool? I've seen a couple different ones...again - don't mind spending money for quality but I probably won't use this tool very often because I don't regularly build motors.
Thanks,
Rick
