Default Valve Spring Opinion

Which set of springs do you guys like for high lift cams and doesn't require machining the heads, doesn't matter if its a dual or single spring either.TIA

I'm looking for cams that have over or close to 600 lift.

I haven't seen one LS* head yet that didn't take a **** @ .600 lift. Anything much over that (.600) is useless IMO. That being said, I've got a set of Crane Duals that seem to be working great.

The ONLY spring I'll install on cars now is the Patriot GOLD dual. If you can find one person that has ever broken one of these when correctly installed... let me know. You can buy springs, bases, seals, and Ti retainers for less than $300, I don't see how you can ever do any better than that

Btw.. I'll let you in on a little secret, check out the springs that AFR sells on their heads that are rated for high lift cams, guess who's they are... Yep.. Patriot GOLD dual springs on the new AFR heads.

I currently have the Crane duals and am looking to "upgrade" to the PP springs as I have some valve float starting @6300rpm's. I was told that the cause is too low of seat pressure on the springs. Options I was given was to shim my current springs or try the PP springs.

another vote for the PP golds. Even works fine with stock cam, since I began upgrading in prep for a cam I installed them.

I'll probably give you a call on Monday to place an order. I'll probably get new retainers/seals/locks as well. Any idea what it's gonna cost me?

probably an .030 shim? I was told that this would help increase seat pressure as well. However I think I'll give the PP's a try since my springs already have about
10k miles on them.
