An LS1 isn't cam only if it has 243/799 heads.

It's not happening either way. That is about 100rwhp high. 430 is a reasonable number for cam and unported ls6 heads.

If it were true, imagine what they can do with an LS3 and larger ci Ls engines!!! No more need for FI'd setups looking for only 650-750 whp...

Ask the shop claiming 530 rwhp cam only with SBE LS1 & imported LS6 heads to show when the last time their dyno was calibrated. Also info on the test conditions temperature, barometric pressure, humidity. I would also ask what fuel was used.

​​I think it's possible to get a 530rwhp dyno sheet with that combo but would be very skeptical about the testing that produced that result.

500 rwhp cam only with standard supporting mods in LS3, that's very doable.

Likewise, 2.2 hp per CID in theory is possible with 260 cfm of air flow that would in perfect ideal circumstances with ideal parts support 572 hp flywheel. Factor in drive train loss 510-520hp at wheels. Factor in a liberal dyno 530 rwhp dyno sheet is possible in theory and unlikely in reality with a SBE LS1. That's my .02 worth

My first question would be - what does it run? Et and trap would tell a lot. Hard to believe a untouched bottom end and untouched ls6 heads could make that much. Now with a tricked bottom end and tricked ls6 heads I do think it's possible.

theres no way you're making 530 cam only.

as for the stall argument, anyone saying a 3800 or bigger isn't daily drivable ether has no clue about them, or has a shitty one lol. My ftp 3800 drove like stock and pulled like a freight train.

Regarding stall, my 72 vette has a Yank 3200 stall converter and it drives exactly like stock. This with TH400 transmission and 3.08 gears. The 72 can easily be driven every day and has done 1300 mile trips. I had heard the stories and spend the $850 on the Yank converter. It worked exactly as Yank said it would. I was pretty amazed.

With a 4L60e or 4L65e where a locking converter can be used, I wouldn't hesitate to use a 3600 stall.
