Default Piston selection

Ok so I have a 2000 ls1 and have turbos have motor out and going to order my bottom end. I was wanting to go stock bore and stock crank. My question is can I use stock bore pistons with just a clean up hone and after the align hone do I use stock size main bearings or get an oversized bearing?

Just bought heads and a cam for the holidays along with a couple other goodies. I am also wondering. Safe to keep it at a stock bore with minor hones?

What do you call a "minor hone"?

As in, just take a few thousands off to make sure the cylinder walls are true. I was looking at weisco pistons and Hrods from TSP. If I'm getting it honed out should I go "bigger is better" or would a few thousands and -4cc pistons be fine?
-sorry to hijack OP

I wouldn't hone 0.005 and then keep stock pistons. Their PTW clearance on stock pistons is 0.0007 or so, and with the hone it's gonna go to like 0.0032. That's borderline forged piston terittory and they will slap like crazy all the time. At least 2618 pistons grow alot when warmed up so the noise usually goes away. But stock hypers don't, so it they will always have a loose clearance and never stop making noise.

If I'm getting it honed out should I go "bigger is better" or would a few thousands and -4cc pistons be fine?
Bore size/piston to wall clearance has nothing to do with piston dome volume, unless you were trying to say something else.

OK. So we have acknowledged slightly oversized pistons are needed. And aftermarket rods are pretty much always 6.125 length. I've seen stock crank is generally good to 1000rwhp+.
And back to OP- what about crank bearings and rod bearings? OE size, oversize?

There are few in the 6.098-6.100 range.

Yes, there are, I agree. But most of them I see are 6.125.
Regardless. Questions are more about the crank bearings. Yes the pistons are now, at the very least, 3.903. Personally I'm looking at weiseco, don't know about OP. Rod lengths may vary depending on choice. Are the main bearings still going to be OEM size?

Are you doing anything to change the main bores in the block or main journals on the crank?

You should be able to use a 2199H bearing, but may need a variation to get the clearance you want.

2199HX bearings give you .001" more clearance than a standard set.
2199H-1 gives you .001" less clearance.
2199H-10 gives you .010" less clearance for a crank that's been turned .010".
Etc etc etc...
