Default Issues with ls2/ls7 lifters and trays

I have a issue on my ls1 block when i put the lifters in the block some of the lifters sit almost flush and will not clip onto the tray. Im not really sure what im doing wrong but if they dont fit into the tray they will spin correct?

Well that's a new one...even for me. Factory block? What cam? About the only thing that could cause that, aside from some weird lifter or block dimensions, is a severely reduced base circle.

The first pic it looks like the the cam lobes aren't lined up with the lifters. Hard to tell by pic though.

I think i got it figured out after 4 hours of research i received the wrong lifters. I bought the motor in pieces so i had no stock lifters to compare the new ones to.

Well that's a new one.

I've always put them in the trays first then slid 4 at a time into the block. Probably wouldn't have caught such a mistake.

Hope you can get them out easily with a magnet or some needle nose pliers

Good catch.

I have never saw a factory GM style lifter, that was to be used with d-bars or trays, have a different OAL (besides Mercruiser which are taller and rotated flats). When you get these out, post a pic of them. I'm curious to what you have here!

You can tell the difference in length just by the pictures.

That's crazy. It's a Delphi lifter...just shorter. I'll have to dig through some prints and try to figure out what that's for. Could possibly be for one of the V6 engines, I know they had a few lifter revisions throughout the years.
